I came across an ultimatum over the weekend.  I had to make a decision of whether or not to drive part-way on the trip and I was very conflicted.  My support car had to return to Los Angeles, and I was unprepared yet to go through the desert alone.

As soon as I leave Phoenix next week, I’ll be without car support for the next 3 weeks.  I will be traveling thus with side bags (panniers), a tent, sleeping bag, and my camera.
I need to know if possibly anyone could lend me or donate the:

small-tent (1-person)
really small sleeping bag (packability is a must)
Pannier bags [...]

Here’s an update on physical condition:
My knees have been bothersome, and according to a friend who is a physical therapist, I have tendinitis developing around my patella and my vastus medialis (inner quad).  Its not a debilitating issue if approached and treated correctly, but in my circumstances it is impossible to get all the rest [...]
