Key to the City!

Key to the city

I was given the key to the city of Lake City Florida by Mayor Witt. They received me so well, I’m sorry to have to leave so soon!
Me and the Mayor-getting the key to the city!

What an honor, I never have been in this position of receiving an award like this. Its pretty much surreal at this point where things are headed!

Hi Ryan! Hey, GREAT you’re in FL! You’re almost in the home stretch! :) That’s amazing you did all those miles in a couple of days! Wow. I’m impressed! Hope the weather will hold for you as you come up the coast! Good you have warm gear and rain stuff. It’s cold and rainy here in DC today – so it’s good you’re not here yet! :) By the way, I think the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (“WABA”) will be having two free bike valet parking areas set up on Inauguration Day – so you’ll have a secure place to put your bike, if need be. One location will be at the McPherson Square Metro station area, and the other will be at the Jefferson Memorial.

Good luck and hope I can maybe meet up with you as you get closer to the area and bike into town with ya!

    Charmaine

Hey! WHAT? I don’t have any keys to the city and I’ve LIVED here for over 6 years!

I hope you get to ride the Skyline Drive in Virginia . . . on Route 211, about 100 miles or so away from the Beltway and DC. I grew up in Rappahannock County (Amissville) and those winding curves up and then down the mountain used to make me car sick, though I imagine on a bike it would be REALLY incredible! Well, maybe on the WAY DOWN!

Be safe and have fun. I’ll be watching you and cheering for you from now on. X’s!

    You’re inspiring Ryan!

When you get to Washington and the inauguration, you’ll have a place to park your bike. As it has done for other events such as the Cherry Blossom Festival, the Washington Area Bicyclist Association will be providing valet bicycle parking. I hope lots of other folks will bike to the inauguration along with you!

    See http://www.bikingforobama.com for more information.

It will be an honor to park your bike!

I saw in the article that there is a film maker in your group. I’m hoping a documentary is in the works.

Maybe, just maybe, this will be the first of a long list of bike tours for you.

    Could happen.

    Have fun

Hi Ryan, just heard about your ride. Glad you are doing this. I hope I can hear from you later this year when you are in Portland and hear you tell about it from your own point of view.
