Out of Many Documentary Screening Tonight @ 8pm…Dont miss it!!!

Come one come all!!! Tell the pundits, your friends and family in red states blue states, libertarians, republicrats and everyone in between!

The documentary I was selected to be part of during last year’s inauguration will be screening this Monday night at 8PM on the web at www.outofmanythemovie.com.

Here’s a note from director Josh Apter:

“Since so many people came together to help get the film to this point, I thought I’s see if people wanted to be involved in the editing process too – the screening on Monday will be a first of it’s kind rough-cut sreening with a live public chat to follow.

Documentary Screening coming up!

Can anyone believe its been an entire year already?! Its the one year anniversary of last year’s inauguration! Celebrate by checking out the documentary I’m part of called Out of Many. Make sure you sign up for email updates, as the official worldwide online screening will be coming up soon.

GROUNDBREAKING, PUBLIC COLLABORATION FILM “Out of Many”

January 19, 2010 (New York, NY) Lo-Fi Pictures’ feature length documentary “OUT OF MANY” (www.outofmanythemovie.com) focuses on a unique group of people who attended the inauguration of Barack Obama, an event that changed American history. On February 15th, 2010 “OUT OF MANY” breaks its own historical ground with a game-changer of a different sort. The film will be the first feature-length movie to both invite and facilitate public collaboration and input into the editorial process. In association with Manhattan Edit Workshop, Lo-Fi Pictures will open the door to the public to help create the first truly “interactive” film. Josh Apter, Director of the film notes, “OUT OF MANY will be the first movie made for the people – BY THE PEOPLE. We are using this moment and this project to put creative power into the hands of the audience, not just the filmmaker.”

The film, originally initiated by an open call to independent filmmakers and to the creative community, will screen President’s Day, February 15th at 8PM EST as an “on-line rough cut” – the first screening of it’s kind at www.outofmanythemovie.com. A live, post- screening web chat will allow the audience to interact with the filmmakers

OUT OF MANY tells the story of five people who traveled from around the United States with the common goal of attending the inauguration of Barack Obama. The documentary takes viewers on an unforgettable trip to the heart of our nation through the eyes of five very different individuals who were compelled to attend the Inauguration for divergent reasons.

A summer run-in with my past

Does randomness exist? Well, ever since I started riding I’ve learned that just about anything can happen!

In a fluke encounter last week in Portland, Oregon, I ran into Chase, a fellow cyclist I met along my journey in Texas. Turns out, he’s spent his summer doing the same thing I did last winter, taking off on his bike a couple months ago from North Carolina and has been headed West ever since. From the glimmer in his eye I could tell that he was having the best experience of his life… the natural high of cycling is so easy to read, it made me jealous!

Well when I saw him he was just about to finish his coast to coast trek, with only a two day jaunt to the Pacific Coast left. From the looks of his facebook page, it seems like he made it to the coast safe and sound. Well god bless you Chase, and the many others who opt to travel on two wheels and open themselves to the world!

The last time i saw him we were riding through central Texas stoppin to grub on some Kolatches!!!

i met an artist under this statue in Habana Cuba in May of 2007..since then we’ve maintained contact, he’s put me in touch with various free speech artists throughout tehran.

The following is an update on whats been happening to the people of Iran over the past couple of days. This brief update is directly from the words of M. Ghadri, a Tehran resident and participant in the mass protests:

“The election was real abuse of our trust and vote/they lied. We were sure we all voted for the other person but they made another person to be president. they are real liars and obama congrats them!!!!!!

We are f*d up. They stopped my online access and reduced internet speed to 12 kb, also filtered facebook and youtube all these days as well as filtered satellite and imprisoned the other candidates in their home with soldiers there.

We are all going to streets and fight Lebanese & Iranian police and guards who throw tear-gas on us all time.

they are wilder than Hitler …they even hit mothers and children We were there just to cheer and shout.
Uneducated people are with police and say ahmadinejad is with the poors, but we are poor too. but we happen to be more educated and want democracy. ahamdinejad is not with poors. he is with liars

he says that “liars are those who fear”

we ask, “if you are not a liar. then why do you fear and block youtube? how you block facebook?

how you block satellite? how you imprison other candidates? how you change the votes?”

come ride in the Joy Ride May 30th

Here’s a great chance for you to give hope to the lives of hundreds of Rwandan children this summer. By riding your bike and collecting sponsors for each mile you go, you will be contributing to sustainable sports camps for Rwandan youth!

You can take an active part in bringing social justice to children of Rwanda. Starting this June 2009, Play for Hope will launch youth sports camps in Kigali, the capital City of Rwanda. This dynamic partnership of Rwandans and Americans is committed to creating sustainable sports development for the youth of Rwanda through sports camps, tournaments, and leadership training. see www.playforhope.org for more details

From 10:00AM-4:00PM participants will ride through the city as they support the cause by raising pledges for each mile they go along the day. Checkpoints at various bike-shops, nonprofits, and businesses will provide refreshments, as well as an opportunity to connect with other progressive organizations throughout the city of LA. The bicycle is truly a vehicle for change, so come ride along and support the progress of the youth of Rwanda, as well as our beautiful and diverse city of Los Angeles.

There are so many charities and organizations that focus on Africa’s need for help from us. Many of those often have failed to accomplish a sustainable change in the lives of those involved. Play for Hope has laid a foundation based on sustainability, and has the chance to dramatically improve the lives of Rwanda’s youth.

This June-July I will be traveling alongside a team American and Rwandan basketball and soccer coaches, medical staff and others to Kigali, Rwanda. We aim to provide an outlet to the thousands of children who don’t have any little leagues or organized recreational sports. Looking back on the relationships that I have made in my sports career, I realize that they have truly been some of the most fulfilling in my life. The lessons learned in teamwork and cooperation as well as the ability to push one’s self to the limit and compete at one’s maximum level is unparalleled.

Not only are sports VITAL to developing relationships amongst one’s peers, but they have the potential to uplift the spirit as well. Many Rwandan children have lost parents to genocide and AIDS and desperately need a message of hope and reconciliation.

As a photographer with a passion for justice, there is no way that I could miss this opportunity to document one of the most compelling, revolutionary events going on this summer. Please support us, fundraising efforts have been difficult in these economic times. While we will work with whatever resources we get, this cannot be done without as much help as possible.
